Horse Racing 2009

2009 in the horse racing industry was an exciting one to remember. With two fillies shaking up the world Zenyatta and Rachel’s Alexandria racking up perfect records. We almost triple crown by one jockey Calvin Borel finishing all 3 races as the winner this is a year to remember. Here is a break down of the horse racing 2009 Triple Crown with the monster breeder’s cup finish.
Horse racing 2009 Kentucky Derby at Churchill downs the fans had no idea what they were in store for. Calvin Borel a famous jockey who was riding a horse named Mine that Bird in the derby that was going off at 50 to 1 odds appeared to know something that the rest did not.  Borel rode Rachel Alexandria the day before to win the Kentucky Oaks by more than 20 lengths. As the race kicked off Musket Man and Regal ransom showed early speed and in the back of the pack dead last most the horse race was Mine that Bird. With a last minute surge Mine that bird exploded down the rail passing one horse like it was sitting still to win the 2nd biggest upset in Derby history. He rode Mine that Bird in similar fashion to riding Street Sense for another horse racing 2009 Victory
The 2nd leg of the Triple Crown in horse racing 2009 is 134th Preakness running @ Pimlico. Calvin Borel did something a little unusual and shifted over to Kentucky Oaks winner Rachel Alexandria. Switching from the Kentucky Derby winner Mine that Bird. Rachel Alexandria took out of the gate with quickness and grabbed the lead early on. Mine that bird was trying to duplicate his style and stayed way back on the rail poised for a late kick. Even with a late run it was all Rachel Alexandria going almost wire to wire to win the Preakness with Borel getting another victory.
The 2009 horse racing Belmont kicked off with Rachel Alexandria backing out of the and Calvin Borel dropped back to Mine that Bird to see if he can accomplish the only jockey to win the triple crown on different horses. The Belmont is the longest of the three races and has proved to be the most trying. A Bird did win the race but it was Summer Bird who caught Mine that bird down the stretch on a last minute outside run. Kent Dersermeaux got some nice revenge winning on Summer Bird claiming victory in the 141st running of the Belmont.
To wrap up a great year of horse racing 2009 the biggest of them all the Breeders Cup Classic unfolds its story. Mine that Bird, Summer Bird and of course Zenyatta who is a fast filly that is undefeated so far this year. A filly has never won the Breeders cup and history is about to be made. Zenyatta does a little dancing for the crowd and looked ready to go. Zenyatta looked completely out of the horse race being dead last and had a lot of ground to make up. Mike Smith rode her perfectly to win her 11th straight victory on her as she came back to circle the field one of the best races we have seen in a long time. This was her 14th straight horse racing victory!
Now for the Horse of the year debate between two fillies that had perfect 2009 horse racing seasons. These two great fillies each had some awesome horse racing accomplishments. Rachel Alexandria won 8 times defeating the boys 3 times. Zenyatta won 5 with the highlight being the first female ever to win the breeders cup. The horse of the year goes to Rachel Alexandria with the voting 130 to 99. This the first time 2 fillies were ever going up against each other for this prestigious award.

Zenyatta went on to win 17 in a row and counting~ Rachel Alexandria had a few stunning defeats in 2010 so far will see if she how she finishes but would love to see these two fillies go at it following a great horse racing 2009 season.
