1.) Algorithms 12-1

This is one of Todd Pletcher’s horses and he has been there before with a strong presens in the derby as always. Won the Holy Bull easily with 105 so is definitely a threat.

2.) Union Rags 7-1

Fits the classic derby profile and the trainer has been there before as well. Finished 2nd in the  BC Juvenile. Will be nice to see what he does in the Fountain of Youth race which should be a challenge.

3.) Creative Cause 17-1

Lots of solid starts last year and finished 2nd in the BC Juvenile looks like he can improve with each race.

4.) Alpha 19-1

With Lasix this horse has improved a lot and won the Withers 02/04 which was impressive. The Wood Memorial will be a good challenge and will let us know the caliber of this horse.

5.) El Padrino 12-1

Another Pletcher horse this Trainer is loaded as usual and this horse had a nice beyer 100 in the GP Allowance. This horse looks to be born for the mud with his pedigree so if that plays a factor at all look out for him.

6.) Gemologist 22-1

He has 2 good wins at Churchill Downs and appears to love the track. Seems like he is not as good as he was last year but has a good win KY Jockey Club back in November. Another Pletcher horse in the mix.

7.) Feb Biz

Baffert enters the scene with this horse who 97 beyer speed rating in the SA Allowance 2/9 where he won easily. He is ready to hit a nice Stakes Race and we will see if this horse can turn it up another notch.

8.) Hansen 26-1

Was second in the Holy Bull but it was an extremely fast pace so if Gothem sets up nicely in Aqueduct could come in at a nice price. Has himself to prove but is one to keep an eye on.

9.) Out of Bounds 23-1

Had a nice 99 speed rating in January racing Sham and took well to the two turns. Appears to be improving with each race San Felipe will be the next quality start it seems and we will be watching.

10.) Discreet Dancer 30-1

Yet another Pletcher horse this trainer is loaded. Won a GP Allowance back in January has not went two turns but appears to be very fast.

There is still plenty of races that will be taking place on the Road to the Kentucky Derby 2012 so we know some of these horses will fall out and there will be some that come from no where going to the top. Stay tuned as we will keep you posted and make some money on the way.

Ireland’s leading contender for the Grade 1 RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival on March 14 looks a seriously good horse and once again jumped impeccably apart from a minor error at the second from home, by which point he was already in control of the race and anyone with a Cheltenham Free bet will have been impressed.

To his credit Call the Police kept on well in second with Lambro a further couple of lengths away in third, but the impression from the stands was that the odds-on favourite always had maters under control as he came through his pre-Cheltenham race without a scare and anyone looking at the Betfair Horse Racing should bear this in mind.

A thorough stayer, the gelded son of Anshan found the good to soft ground as quick as he can handle and Fenton was quick to stress that while he has every intention of sending the current 7/1 shot to take on Grand Crus and Bobs Worth in the RSA Chase, he would not be prepared to risk the seven-year-old on ground any faster than he encountered at Leopardstown. Soft or even heavy conditions are the preferred terrain for the horse who has now won seven of his nine career starts and was winning his second Grade 1 contest in a row having handed out a six-length beating to the very useful First Lieutenant in the Fort Leney Novice Chase at Leopardstown just before the turn of the year.

Although he is confidently expected to go for the three-mile contest at Cheltenham, Last Instalment still holds an entry for the three-furlong shorter Grade 2 Jewson Novices Chase for which he is currently a 10/1 shot.

Although by no means a certain starter, The Giant Bolster’s presence among the 47 entries indicates the prestige associated with this popular contest, a race that has been won over the years by the likes of the great Desert Orchid and Grand National winners Rhyme ‘N Reason and Rough Quest. With only last season’s Arkle Chase winner Captain Chris rated higher that Bridgewater’s stable star. There must be a doubt that the seven-year-old will make the starting line-up only three weeks before the Cheltenham Festival where the gelded son of Black Sam Bellamy has a range of targets including in the Grade 1 Cheltenham Gold Cup, although he is a real outsider in the Betfair Gold Cup betting.

After a frustrating time last season when The Giant Bolster fell in a number of decent races when appearing to hold a chance. This season has seen more of an upward curve that began with a rock-solid seventh place finish behind Carruthers in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury in November. A pleasing runner-up to Time For Rupert in a graduation chase back at Newbury three weeks later. He then ran his rivals ragged in the Grade 3 Murphy Group Handicap chase at Cheltenham in late-January, making all and eventually coming home a massive 17-lengths clear of course specialist Poquelin. Those following the Cheltenham 2012 betting will be monitoring his next race closely.

His latest success has seen The Giant Bolster’s mark raised to 160, a hike of no less than 15lbs, but if he does run at Kempton and is in the same mood as Cheltenham, even that massive weight rise might not stop Bridgewater’s charge notching up another high profile success.
