Cheltenham Tips 2013: Can The Toilet Tips Beat The Likes Of Nick Luck And Alex Hammond?
Written by Sam Darby.
The Cheltenham Festival got underway for 2013 on Tuesday and the Punters v Bookies battle is underway for the week. Most punters are going to struggle to improve on last year when it emerged that the toilets at Cheltenham racecourse were the best place to find winning Cheltenham tips, something that certainly isn’t always the case!
The tips coming out of the toilets were compliments of OLBG.com, sponsors of the OLBG Mares’ Hurdle. OLBG put posters up above the urinals showcasing tips from their members of the sports betting community. These tips were the ten best tips for the Cheltenham Festival according to OLBG members and these tips proved a revelation as the first 8 tips, which included 4 from day one and 2 each from days two and three, all won. If a punter had been lucky enough to place a £1 accumulator on all 8 of those tips on the first three days of Cheltenham they would have won a tidy sum of £48,031! From then on these great tips would be known as the Toilet Tips!
It wasn’t only the oncourse punters that benefited from these so called Toilet Tips, OLBG.com added the tips each day to their site and also published them on Twitter where they became quite a hit with #ToiletTips even trending during the 100% record. That record was finally ended on the final day of the Festival as the last two toilet tips finished unplaced and a close 2nd but an overall record of 8 winners, 1 2nd place and 1 unplaced runner meant that punters wouldn’t be forgetting about the Toilet Tips any time soon.
There has been plenty of buzz about the 2013 Toilet Tips are they of course back by popular demand. The twist this year though is that they are taking on the pundits with Nick Luck from Channel 4 Racing, Mark Howard from Racing UK, Alex Hammond from Sky Sports and Tony Ennis from AtTheRaces amongst those putting their tips against those of the Toilet Tips in the selected races. Comparing all of the tips makes very interesting reading and it will be fascinating to see who comes out on top when the week ends and all bets are settled.
