Breeders Cup Contenders 2011

Hello my fellow horse racing enthusiast! The time is among us and in just a few short weeks we will have the annual running of the most expensive and sought after horse race of the year the Breeders Cup Classic. There are quite a few races in the few days at Churchill on November 5th and these are horses that are considered the some of the best in the world. Its a must not miss for any fan of the horse racing world and this year will not disappoint. Here is a line up of the upcoming 2011 Breeders Cup:

Uncle Mo~ Todd Pletcher,
this horse must have a familiar name if you have not been following him up to this point. He was set off to be a young stallion and was the odds on favorite to dominate the Kentucky Derby but due to some injury or cautious trainer he was pulled on the day of the Derby. Since then this horse has proved himself to have beyers of 118, 106 and 92 in the last few races with a sharp win in the Kelso. This horse is going for the comeback of the year. He is getting odds of 7-2 last time checked so watch for him.

Havre De Grace~L. Jones
This is a very versatile horse and has been very impressive this year. His owner says he is the perfect horse and we shall see on the day of the Breeders cup. She has shown that he can come from behind as well as win by maintaining a lead. I really like this horses chances with his ability to adjust. Had a great race in the Woodard beating the boys and we have seen these Fillies in the past years really put on a showing. This win could put this horse in the “horse of the Year category” Odds are currently 5-1 worth a bet for sure..I like it at this current price. Last Speed Ratings 105, 111, 106

Flat Out~ C. Dickey
This horse did not have a great race in Saratoga losing to Havre De Grace and to Tizway but that does not mean he is not a good contender for this one. With solid speed ratings 107, 109 and 106 respectively this horse belongs in this race. Had a great race in the Jockey Gold Cup race so proved himself in that one. We shall see with current odds of 6-1.

Tizway~ H.J.Bond
This is a very fast horse and always runs his heart out. Going off currently at 6-1 might be a good race. This will be a huge challenge in this race and with his win in Met Mile and Whitney it put him in this class of horses where he belongs. Had a illness with a fever adn missed the Jockey Gold Cub so would have liked to see him compete there but if this horse is health could be a contender. Last speed ratings very impressive at 111, 113, and 97.

So You Think~ A. Obrien
This horse still has to prove he can run with this class of horses. Was second in Champion Stakes which made people take notice but there are some questions with Churchill being the first start on dirt. We will see how it handles the change. Getting 8-1 currently in odds not sure worth the risk.

Stay Thirsty~ T. Pletcher
This owner is very active and has two horses in the Breeders Cup Classic which means he knows what he is doing and works very hard to make things happen. Respectable speed ratings at 103, 101, and 106. Had a hard time with the more experienced horses in the Jocky Gold Cup but did not put himself to shame either. Will put on a showing just not sure how good and to be honest with the same trainer as T. Pletcher might be paving the way or have some factor for Uncle MO taking this race. Currently getting 8-1.

To Honor and Serve~ W. Mott
This horse had a bad Spring as well but since then has really picked it up like a similar horse in this race. Has good speed ratings in the last 3 104, 102, and 84. Really liked him in the PA Derby so watch that race to see why he is hear. This is a solid class of horses that he was going to take on in the Spring but has matured into a decent horse. 10-1 odds going off as but like others in this race even though he could surprise some people.

Game on Dude~ B. Baffert
Now you did not think that Baffert would miss a Breeders Cup without having a contender did you? Especially with his other buddy trainer Pletcher who is running tow in this race. Speed figures show he belongs with 102, 98 and 106 respectively. This horse will be a factor in how this races ran since he will try to set a fast early speed and carry it to the end. Not sure he can hang with this crowd which shows in the morning odds of 12-1.

Drosselmeyer, W. Mott
This horse was second in the most recent Jockey Club Gold Cup where he put himself on the map for sure. Has a grinding dirty style of running and this might keep him off his game. Getting 20-1 at a good price is very very interesting

Headache~ M. Maker
This horse is running 99, 99, and 100 so I pretty much know what her personality is. Won the Hawthorne Gold Cup and has been on a roll in the best form of winning the last 3 out of four races. He is going against the strongest field of his life though so rounds out the field at 30-1.
