Belmont Stakes Free Picks 2013
Hello my fellow horse racing fans! We are approaching the Belmont Stakes on Saturday June 8th and we will have a great race with the winner of the Derby Orb taking on the winner of the Preakness Oxbow. It is disappointing that we don’t have a triple crown contender this year but that does not take away from the great race on Saturday as these horses compete to see who is the best. Will it be Orb, Oxbow or another contender trying to steal the victory away from these two great horses. Here is a list of the current field with our top 3 picks for the Belmont Stakes!
1.) Frac Daddy ~ K. Mckpeek
He was 2nd in the Arkansas Derby and then a disappointing 16th in the Kentucky Derby. The track should be fast and not muddy which should make a difference and he skipped the Preakness so is fresh. Seems overmatched still with this field and not having a stakes win.
2.) Freedom Child ~ T. Albertrani
He had a crazy win on a sloppy track in Peter Pan so this horse does have some good life to him. If he can take the lead from Oxbow there is a chance he can ride it to the finish. Not one of my top favorites but he is on the radar.
3.) Overanalyze ~ T. Pletcher
Pletcher has many horses in the Belmont trying for a victory and this horse even though he did not show much in the derby had a decent sprinting race. His whole career he has one good race and then one bad one so if this holds true should be in good form today. This would be good for the exacta’s as the odds could pay well if he shows up.
4.) Giant Finish ~ T. Pletcher
He was 10th in the Kentucky Derby and was in a slow pace Spiral finishing 3rd. Not much faith in this horse as he does seemed outclassed but Pletcher has another horse that will be firing at the finish line. Others look better.
5.) Orb~ C. McGaughey III
Orb was favored by most to be looking at this race as the next Triple Crown winner but that was taking away by a good showing from Oxbow. It will be great to see these two horses go at it again to see which one is better. I feel that he was on the worst part of the track at Pimlico and if he races his regular form will win this Belmont Stakes! My pick
6.) Incognito ~ F. McLaughlin
He has won 2 out of the last 3 starts and did not race that great in the Peter Pan. Not real impressed with the low beyers so not sure how he will manage to make a name for himself at the Belmont Stakes.
7.) Oxbow ~ DW Lukas
Oxbow is coming off a win off a really slow pace in the Preakness. This horse surprised many winning it over Orb. I think that his front running style and the length of this race is going to be too much for him. Maybe in the top 5 but seeing some others in the field that have a better chance actually.
8.) Midnight Taboo ~ T. Pletcher
This horse seems out of place in this race and Pletcher might be using it to set up one of his others that are racing. Lightly raced but had two Allowance races that got him in the stakes. Don’t think there is much of a chance for him here.
9.) Revolutionary ~ T. Pletcher
This horse was pretty slow in the last stretch of the Kentucky Derby. With this being the longest of the three the distance really concerns me here. Looking elsewhere~
10.) Will Take Charge~ D. Lukas
Will Take Charge is going after all three of these races in search for a victory. He did not step it up in the Derby or the Preakness which was due to a soft pace. I think this will be his best race of the three and could make it to show.
11.) Vyjack~ R. Rodriguez
This is a solid horse and has good comeback when he makes a good solid run to catch the leader. Rodriguez however has this horse in a long race and the hard fast run he will put out might not carry him to the finish line with the distance. Concerns on distance~
12.) Palace Malice ~ T. Pletcher
Did not react well with the blinkers in the Derby but the barn loves this horse. He should set up for a nice race today and with Curlin in his blood line that might shine through on the Belmont. I like the odds and will have him in my top 3.
13.) Unlimited Budget ~ T. Pletcher
One of the best fillies that are out there and trained by Pletcher. Not sure if this Fillie still has what it takes to beat the boys in this race. Definitely a possibility with a nice trip.
14.) Golden Soul ~ D. Stewart
This horse had his best race of his career in the Derby. If he gets a good trip can challenge Orb for the victory Saturday. Had a nice beyer of 100 on his last outing. Watch for this horse~
Our Picks~
1.) Orb 2.) Golden Soul 3.) Palace Malice
There you have the field for the 2013 Belmont Stakes. It is shaping up to be a very good race in Chicago on Saturday. Happy Handicapping.
